Eric Anthony Steele Obituary

Eric Anthony Steele, age 41, of Quinlan, TX passed away on September 29, 2019. He was born March 5, 1978, in Fort Worth, TX to Paul Nelson Steele and Ginger Sue (Thompson) Steele. Eric is survived by his wife, Chanda Steele, son Dalton Steele, and daughter Katlynn Steele, as well as his parents, Paul and Sue Steele, sister Leah Steele, brother David Steele and wife, Rachel, brother Jonathan Steele and wife, Kristi, four nieces, six nephews, and numerous friends and family who will miss him profoundly.

Eric was a faithful member of the Rockwall United Pentecostal Church. He treasured the house of God. A gifted carpenter, Eric loved using his skills to build and remodel numerous churches both with the Church In A Day program and in other countries, as well as in his capacity as a successful custom home builder.

Eric met his wife, Chanda, at a camp meeting in Lufkin, TX. During their 21 years of marriage, they were best friends, a tight-knit team who enjoyed scuba diving, going on missions trips together, and designing and building homes. They shared everything—including one of Chanda’s kidneys.

Eric’s family was his passion. He adored Chanda and called her his own “Superhero”. He knew she would much prefer a new Dewalt power tool over roses any day, and created a superb collection for her over the years. Eric’s face lit up the room when he spoke of her. He was a proud father, devoted to his children, Dalton and Katlynn.

Eric loved woodworking, writing poetry and riding dirt bikes. He was a kind, generous man with a giant sense of humor and an even larger servant’s heart. Eric never met a stranger. He was a friend of both the rich and the poor, and his influence was far-reaching. His unique fingerprint is forever engrained in the art he created through wood and in the hearts of the people he loved.

Family and friends are invited to share memories of Eric at his viewing at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home (Rockwall location) on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. His memorial service will take place October 4, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Church, 402 Oaks Trail, Garland, TX, officiated by Rev. Richard Flowers. Eric will be laid to rest at his beloved Middleton Ranch in Spicewood, TX on October 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Following the graveside service, dinner will be served at the Bunkhouse.
