Mildred “Millie” Ruth (Hanner) Woods Obituary

Mildred “Millie” Ruth (Hanner) Woods, age 78, of Rockwall, TX, passed away on October 21, 2019, after a courageous battle against all odds she faced. Millie was born November 26, 1940, in Oil City, LA, to John Robert Hanner and Mary Ruth (Blakey) Hanner. Although she was passionate about a lot of things, Millie’s greatest passion was family. She deeply loved her husband and was always a loving best friend to her children, siblings, grandchildren, and so many others to whom the word “family” was a commitment, not a blood relationship. No one could doubt that she cared for others more than she cared for herself.

After already leading what most would consider a full life, Millie decided she would pursue a college degree in Computer Information Applications which she then used in her Web-Design business. She was a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa. She took pride and pleasure in bragging about being the oldest person in her college classes and in her 2004 graduating class at Western Nevada Community College. Among countless interests, she was a gifted writer and she loved genealogy & exploring family history.

Surviving are her husband: William Murray Woods; children: Sharon Montaldo and husband Fred, Joe Mann, Leon Mann, Don Mann and wife Lori, Robert Sawyer, Michelle Mims, John Woods, and Paul Woods; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister: Mary Jo Morris; brother: John Hanner and wife Elaine; nephew: Jeff Morris; niece: Teresa Kelly; and many other nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her father: John Robert Hanner; son: David Favors; sister: Ruby Ann Denton; and granddaughter: Amy Gray. Additionally, Millie enjoyed special relationships with her grandchildren: Katherine Mann and Johnny Mann; and close friend: Brent Burns.

Graveside services will be held at 9:15 AM on Monday, October 28, 2019, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
