Hulen “Hugh” “Mac” D. McFarlin Obituary

Hulen D. “Hugh” “Mac” McFarlin, beloved husband, father, and grandfather changed his address to heaven on November 16, 2019. He was born on February 18, 1933, in Katie, OK, to Larkin Atha McFarlin and Sarah Jane Christian. After graduation from Blum High School in Blum, TX, he and Barbara Ann Taylor married on April 10, 1952, and made their way to Terrell, TX, where he began his grocery store career. They started their family with daughter Diana Kay and later Sara DeAnne. His grocery store career started with Safeway where he completed 19 years on his way to store manager. Then he joined the Brookshire store chain and worked as a store director for 31 years.

They attended First Assembly of God Church in Terrell, TX, from 1958 until they moved to Rockwall in 1978, where they were charter members of the Lakes Assembly of God. During his years in Rockwall, he was a member of the volunteer police department and was active in many community services.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Hubert McFarlin; and grandson: Zachary Seth Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years: Barbara Taylor McFarlin; daughters: Kay McFarlin Moore and husband Gene of Wichita Falls, TX, and DeAnne McFarlin Feazell and husband Rickey of Rockwall, TX; grandson: Taylor McFarlin Feazell of Rockwall, TX; granddaughter-in-law: Ashley Moore of Richland Hills, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am.
