Novie Alice Shewbirt Obituary

Novie Alice Shewbirt, age 82, passed away on November 25, 2019. She was born April 22, 1937. Novie was a precious and kind-hearted person to everyone she met. She led a simple life but worked hard and managed her home and family very well. She was retired from Fujitzu where she worked for many years. She was a very talented singer and guitar player and played and sang at the Big G Jamboree in Garland for many years. She was a wonderful cook and baker and always made sure there was plenty to eat in case someone happened to stop by. She was a colon cancer survivor but ultimately succumbed to Alzheimer’s.

Novie leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter: Sherry Vogt and husband Jeff; son-in-law: John Mohrle; son: Garry Shewbirt and fiancé Terri; daughter: Linda Sakolevidis and husband Olaf; sisters: Janice Young and Margarett Barrett; and sister-in-law: Terry Warren. She has nine grandchildren: Julie Morgan, Amy Miranda, Regina Hernandez, Tony Pollinzi, Katrina Crank, Michael Harris, Brittany Crank, Destiny Sakolevidis, and Landon Sakolevidis. She has 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She has many nieces, nephews, and cousins she loved dearly as well. She was preceded in death by her parents: James and Rosie Warren; husband: Mack Shewbirt; son: Danny Long; daughter: Paula Mohrle; and brother: James Warren.

Our family would like to thank Bernie Cook for her tireless and endless love and excellent care given to our mama over the past five years. Bernie gave our family such peace during a difficult time. A special thank you to Ralph Cook as well for supporting Bernie and welcoming all family into your home, bless you both always!

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 29, 2019, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location with Pastor Felipe Castro officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 12:00 pm.
