Hans Jurgen Beckerwerth, age 89, of Rockwall, TX, passed away August 24, 2022. He was born April 2, 1933, in Bremen Germany, to Helmut August Hermann Beckerwerth and Hertha Marie Redicker-Beckerwerth. His childhood home was Worpswede, Germany before immigrating to the United States in the late 1940’s. He spent his teenage years in Charleston South Carolina, eventually moving to Anchorage, Alaska.
While in Alaska, Hans met the love of his life Alice Dale Bramble while working for the Travelers Inn hotel. He had a deep passion for serving others and spent over 50 years in hotel operations and management. Hans’ career kept him moving to many different locations before settling in Texas in 1983. Hans was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. Hans had a great joy for gardening and working in his yard with his beloved dogs. Hans true love was for his Savior Jesus Christ, his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be missed dearly.
Hans is survived by his loving wife: Alice Beckerwerth; children: Hans Christopher Beckerwerth and wife Rebecca, Karen Rowand, and Eric Beckerwerth and wife Emily; grandchildren: Dustin Horwedel and wife Samantha, Megan Murawa and husband Joey, Alexa Fudge and husband Aaron, Luke Rowand and wife Bree, Amanda Schindler and husband Eric, Annalisa Brookshire and husband Trent, Aiden Beckerwerth, and Henry Beckerwerth; brother: Charlie Chavious; sixteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and his dogs: Sugar and Ringo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-dad: Permon Chavious; siblings: Horst Beckerwerth, Maria Chavious, Permon Chavious, and Helmut Beckerwerth; son-in-law David Rowand; great-grandchild: Kylie Rowand.
