Brian Mathew Donegan, our beloved Gramps, of Mabank, TX, and Orange, CA, was born on October 2, 1952, and passed into the Kingdom of the Lord on September 13, 2022. He was born in Monterey Park, CA where he spent most of his childhood, but moved to Orange County, graduating from Mission Viejo High School in 1970. Gramps moved to Texas in 2008 to be closer to his grandchildren after spending the majority of his life in southern California.
Gramps was honorably discharged after serving in the US Navy from 1972-1975 where he was stationed on the USS Midway. In 1977, Gramps joined the Orange County Sheriff’s Department where he served his community with empathy and compassion for 29 years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard (1953), older brother, Johnny (1951), mother, Leila (2002), and many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gramps is survived by his daughter, Megan, son-in-law, James, granddaughter, Peyton and, grandson, Logan of Heath, TX; brother Dick, wife, Janice, and family of Elk Ridge UT; a fairly extensive list of other beloved Donegan-Patton family members, as well as many wonderful friends. His family is all eternally grateful for the love he gave us.
We thank you all for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. A celebration of life is being planned for the summer of 2023 in Mabank, TX (4th of July weekend-Gramps loved his fireworks); Phoenix, AZ; and Orange, CA. Details to come later.
