James “JD” Dotts

James “JD” Dotts of Rowlett, Texas passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2022. He was born July 19, 1966 in Lindsborg, Kansas to Nancy and Floyd Dotts.

JD married the love of his life and best friend Amber Campbell in Plano, TX on May 13, 2000. Not only did he gain a wife on that day, he became a loving father to Bailey Bethel. Over the next few years, JD and Amber had the joy of bringing their daughters Katelyn, and Kelsi into the world. He was an immensely proud father, who found so much joy in any activities his kids participated in. He took his role as his children’s biggest fan seriously. He could easily be spotted in softball stadiums throughout Texas cheering on his girls or casting a line in the water with his son.

JD was a nurse by trade and a natural born caretaker. He was a proud graduate of Fort Hayes State with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. He was well loved by his co-workers who remember his wit and love for practical jokes fondly. Salt water fishing was something JD loved to do. He would jump at the chance to get his boat in the water in Matorgorga Bay, Tx with his beloved family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Dotts. JD is survived by his loving wife Amber, son Bailey Bethel (Nikkie) daughters Katelyn and Kelsi Dotts, his mother Nancy, sister Terri Nelson, brother Wayne Dotts, grandsons Bentley, Hudson, and Lincoln Bethel, and his dog Memphis.

His family is left behind with a lifetime of incredible memories with JD, whose love for a practical joke earned him a few nicknames like “Captain” and “Great White Buffalo”. He had such great love for his family and his life and his presence will be tremendously missed.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, October 9th from 11am to 3pm at their home in Rowlett.
