Jesse Wayne Bennett, age 87, a longtime resident of Rockwall, TX, passed away September 22, 2022. Jesse was born December 16, 1934, in Cumby, TX, to James Bennett and Lillian (Dillon) Bennett. Jesse was born of humble beginnings growing up the fourth child of a cotton farmer. His father instilled an incredible work ethic which benefitted him well in the Air Force and later as a computer specialist for IBM for more than twenty years. He was a family man who passed on the same work ethic to his three sons and was affectionately known as PaPa to his grandchildren. Jesse was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife of sixty years before she preceded him in death. Most recently, Jesse was endeared and loved by many wonderful caregivers at Village Green in Rockwall who referred to him as their “buddy”.
Jesse is survived by his sons: Barry Bennett and wife Shelly, Breck Bennett and wife Denise, and Bradey Bennett; grandchildren: Zachary Bennett and wife Carrie, Meredith (Bennett) McPherson and husband Garrett, Lillian Bennett, and Blake Bennett; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Gayle Bennett; his parents; and siblings.
A graveside service will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Rockwall, TX. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, September 30, 2022, at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location.
