Suzanne May Pixley

Suzanne May Pixley, age 88, of Rockwall, TX, passed away September 28, 2022. She was born November 6, 1933, in Detroit, MI, to Fern Fry and William Charboneau. In July of 1957, at the age of 24, Suzanne accepted a 2-year commission as a civilian with the US State Department / Overseas Economic Commission and was immediately stationed in Korea. During her time in Korea, as a secretary taking minutes during the “Peace Talks”, she attended many official Embassy affairs and parties – meeting government Ministers, Ambassadors, Generals, and even South Korean President Rhee and his first Lady, who she found charming. She was later transferred to Afghanistan before returning to the US in 1959. On the way “home” her route took her through many Asian, Middle Eastern, and European countries sparking her love of travel to far-off places. She relocated to Southern California in 1960, married Gerald W. Pixley in 1961, and raised her family. After “Jerry’s” death in 2011 and at the age of 80, Suzanne took another bold step and moved to Rockwall Texas, which reminded her of Michigan.

Suzanne was always a busy lady and avid “learner”, claiming numerous professional certifications in both the Financial and Real Estate fields. She started and ran multiple businesses over her lifetime and well into her 80s. She will be fondly remembered as a fun and loving wife, mother, sister, and friend who always “sparkled”. She loved dancing, entertaining – both large formal and small casual events, learning new things and skills, and water sports – taking her final solo Jet-ski ride at the age of 86 on her own “ski” a Kawasaki Wave Runner.

Suzanne is survived by her children: Stephen Pixley, Andrea Pixley, Anita Pixley, Alane Pixley and Aliza Roman and husband Rogelio; and a total of 11 cherished grandchildren; sisters: Martha Gustin and husband Hugo, Rose Diaz, Estelle Clifford and husband Clark, Regina Michellin and husband Michael, Carla Hile, and Violia Baller and husband Loren; brother: Michael Charboneau and wife Marlene; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald Winfield Pixley; her parents; sisters: Maureen Therrian, Sharon Sova; and her brothers: Joe and George Charboneau.
