Daisy J. Merino

Daisy J. Merino age 72 passed away peacefully on October 1, 2022, at her home in Rowlett, TX. She was born June 6, 1950, in La Ceiba, Honduras, to Ramon and Evangelina (Mena) Guifarro. Daisy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rowlett. She was married on May 26, 1978, in Provo, UT, to Antonio Merino and they shared 44 wonderful years together. With a spirit for entrepreneurship, Daisy started her own children’s apparel business, Karilu Designs which she ran for 15 years. Daisy eventually returned to her passion, teaching. She was a devoted teacher for 25 years who profoundly loved her students. In 2007 she was chosen as the National Association for Alternative Certification’s National Intern of the Year, for which she was recognized in Washington DC. Aside from her love of sewing, Daisy also enjoyed gardening, cooking, organizing, tutoring, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her family very much and they loved her. While she will be greatly missed, her family takes comfort in the countless loving memories that they are left with.

Daisy is survived by her husband: Antonio R. Merino; children: Carolina Merino and wife Alejandra Torres, Ricardo Merino and wife Maricela, Luis Merino and wife Natalia; grandchildren: Abel, Brisa, Graciela, Ruby, Ariana, Sofia, Maciel, and Mateo Merino; sister: Lesy Palacios Guifarro; brother: Ramon Guifarro; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, October 8, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rowlett. The family will gather with friends at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rowlett on Friday, October 7 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
